Who Pays The Wages ? - Latest Move Is Likely To Leave Celtic Dismayed
Australia have revealed they are poised to select the on-loan Manchester City starlet for Olympic qualifiers in Thailand.

Australia have revealed they are poised to select the on-loan Manchester City starlet for Olympic qualifiers in Thailand.

Arzani – who suffered an ACL injury on his debut against Dundee in October 2018 – is preparing to make his return to action.

But the Aussies’ latest move is likely to leave Celtic dismayed.Socceroos Olympic caretaker manager Gary van Egmond has confirmed he wants to call up the 20-year-old for the AFC Under 23s Finals, which doubles up as Olympic qualifiers.

They take place in Bangkok and will last from January 8-26, meaning the youngster could potentially miss some games before and after the winter break.

Van Egmond said: "It depends where he’s at in terms of his fitness, but if he’s good to go then in this age group he’s very important in terms of where he’s playing and the level he’s at.

"He could have a big bearing on the team and how it progresses from here. We’ll obviously he guided by the medics in terms of where he’s up to to ensure the best outcome for him.

"But all the overseas boys have expressed just how much they want to be involved in the Olympics.”

Australia's Olympic side also have a friendly in Qatar next month and three games against China in November that Arzani could be involved in.

Van Egmond added: "The preparation has been very thorough and it’s great we have these camps to give us the preparation we need.

"But we’re very respectful of the clubs and we’re trying to work in with them to utilize the FIFA windows. They all know what’s occurring - our manager Graham Arnold has spoken with them and I’ve been talking to them too to keep them up to date.

"It’s very recognisable how important the Olympics are and how invaluable it is for players to have the chance to go there."

Celtic had already been left frustrated by Australia calling up Tom Rogic.

Odsonne Edouard admitted on Tuesday his ambition is to play in the Olympics for France which means he could miss European qualifiers next summer.
