A Celtic fan has claimed Scott Sinclair's bust-up with Motherwell's groundsman happened because the Hoops winger was carrying out a kind gesture for a fan.

Celtic ran out comfortable winners at Fir Park, as they sealed a 5-2 victory as they sent out another statement of intent as they topped the Premiership table after two games. But there was drama off the pitch after the final whistle, after Sinclair had warmed down.

It was believed Sinclair was on his mobile while walking on the pitch, and the Well member of staff shouted at him to get off the turf, before the Parkhead midfielder responded.

It was claimed on Clyde radio last night that the Steelmen's chief executive Alan Burrows had to wade in and seperate the pair, while several other members of staff tried to calm down the dispute.

But now a Hoops fan claims she and her son, who was celebrating his birthday, were the cause of the argument which spilled over and got more heated as the situation escalated quickly, over the simple gesture of having a picture with the former Man City player.

Elaine Stewart tweeted: Scott Sinclair thank you so much for coming over and having your pic taken with my birthday boy after today’s match. He was so happy! Proper gentleman.... apologies for what happened to you after you took your time to do this kind deed though.

"This is the picture that Scott Sinclair walked over for which led to him being confronted by the groundsman.
