Lennon Hails Midfielder

Celtic boss Neil Lennon heaped praise on his midfielder Olivier Ntcham following his performance in the away win over Motherwell on Saturday.

The Bhoys recorded a thrilling 5-2 victory on the road in the Scottish Premiership and had to come from behind against Motherwell.

Kristoffer Ajer drew the reigning champions level after an early scare, before Leigh Griffiths, James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie all got on the scoresheet.

Ntcham was recalled to the starting XI by his manager and repaid him with a commanding display in the centre of the park.

The central midfielder was elegant in possession by showing his range of passing and supported the attack well when he dropped into central attacking positions.

He provided a brilliant assist for Edouard’s goal too, with a pass to the edge of the box with the outside of his boot.

Lennon spoke about Ntcham after his eye-catching display and felt he was a key player in the win.

“Olivier Ntcham is a very talented footballer, and as the game wore on, you could see his talent coming to the fore,” Lennon said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.

“His footwork is fantastic, and his work rate was fantastic. He can be very pleased with himself today.”

Ntcham turned in one of his better performances in a Celtic shirt and he’s proven he’s a real handful when on form.

The 23-year-old Frenchman should be hoping to start in mid-week for the second leg of a Champions League third round qualifier CFR Cluj.

He certainly has a battle to cement a spot in the team on a regular basis, but the weekend’s display will have helped his chances and he showed that there is some strength in depth.
