Defensive Duo Likely To Feature vs AIK

Celtic play against AIK in a Europa League playoff second leg at the Friends Arena tonight, hoping to make it through to the group stages.

The Scottish giants head into the contest as favourites to advance after having won the first leg 2-0 at Parkhead.Celtic can however ill-afford to take their opponents lightly especially as they have suffered their fair share of upsets in knockout football, including being eliminated fro the Champions League qualifiers by CFR Cluj earlier in the campaign.

Celtic really need to make a statement in the Europa League this season in order to silence their fierce critics.

Many people have resorted to scathing criticism of the Hoops as well as Scottish football in general as teams from the Scottish Premiership have failed to make much of an impact in European football during recent years.

Celtic have dominated Scottish football but have not managed to be competitive in the Champions League.

Neil Lennon is unlikely to take any chances and will field a full-strength side against AIK. It would be wise for the Celtic boss to play things safe. He will need his best possible combinations especially as the side will be playing on unfamiliar Swedish territory.

The report added that Hatem Abd Elhamed is another player who is expected to start the game after missing the last two games due to injury.

His return will also see Kristoffer Ajer move back to his natural centre-back position and will strengthen two positions.
