CELTIC return to domestic action this afternoon (Saturday) with a trip to Easter Road to take on Hibernian.

CELTIC return to domestic action this afternoon (Saturday) with a trip to Easter Road to take on Hibernian. And Neil Lennon names the same starting XI that beat Motherwell 4-1 at Fir Park two weeks ago.

Moi Elyounoussi, the hat-trick hero from that game, will be aiming to add to the 11 goals he’s already scored for Celtic this season, and both he and Albian Ajeti were on target the last time Celtic played Hibernian.

Celtic delighted to sign Uruguayan internationalist, Diego Laxalt
CELTIC Football Club are delighted to announce that Uruguayan internationalist, Diego Laxalt, has joined the club on loan from AC Milan until the end of the season

CELTIC Football Club are delighted to announce that Uruguayan internationalist, Diego Laxalt, has joined the club on loan from AC Milan until the end of the season

The 27-year-old left-sided player, who has been capped 24 times by his country, has been with the Italian giants since joining from Genoa in 2018, where he had been a team-mate of Olivier Ntcham.

Diego becomes the latest signing for Neil Lennon's squad during this transfer window, joining Vasilis Barkas, Albian Ajeti, David Turnbull and fellow loan signings, Shane Duffy and Moi Elyounoussi at the Scottish champions.

Last season he spent the first part of the campaign on loan at Torino, although he returned to the San Siro and played for the Rossoneri during the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign. And AC Milan will be Celtic's first opponents in this season's UEFA Europa League group stages, with the Italian side visiting Glasgow on October 22.

Chris Sutton - The Trio Celtic Need To Keep
Chris Sutton says Celtic can't afford to lose any of their key players – and actually still need to strengthen – if they are serious about this season.

Chris Sutton says Celtic can't afford to lose any of their key players – and actually still need to strengthen – if they are serious about this season.

The Parkhead hero says his old club can't be taking any chances given the significance of the Scottish Premiership season, and a tenth consecutive title on the line.

The Hoops added Shane Duffy on a season-long-loan earlier this week while Albian Ajeti, David Turnbull and Vasilis Barkas have already come in to strengthen the side. Moi Elyounoussi also extended his loan stay at the clyb.

However Sutton says there are still a couple of problem positions Neil Lennon needs to sort out, and losing any key men could spell trouble for the club.

He wrote in his Daily Record column: "There simply aren’t the options available to the manager at the moment. Everyone saw what happened when Edouard missed the Champions League game.

"I’ve made my position crystal clear on the French striker.

Is It Time For Scott Brown To Take A Back Seat ?
THE question of whether or not Scott Brown should be starting every game for Celtic seems to rear its head on an annual basis.

THE question of whether or not Scott Brown should be starting every game for Celtic seems to rear its head on an annual basis.

There are those who are quick to write him off every year , and then there are others who point out that the talismanic captain has a happy habit of making the naysayers look very foolish indeed as his performances pick up.

It is quite the quandary. No one is doubting Brown’s importance to the Parkhead club over the last decade or so, but even his more ardent admirers will admit that he is not the player he once was. The dynamism that typified the combative midfielder’s style of play for the best part of his career has eroded over time as Brown finds himself playing a more cautious role in the starting XI; recycling play and taking fewer risks, all the while barking out instructions to his team-mates.

Shane Duffy Targeted For Extended Celtic Stay
Shane Duffy sets his sight on making history at Celtic after finally completing his loan switch but Parkhead power brokers are already plotting a way to securing the centre half beyond their 10 In A Row bid.

Shane Duffy sets his sight on making history at Celtic after finally completing his loan switch but Parkhead power brokers are already plotting a way to securing the centre half beyond their 10 In A Row bid.

The Republic of Ireland international sealed his season long switch to the Scottish champs in a big money move that saw Celts stump up £2m up front for his services while picking up half the tab on his £45,000 per week pay packet.

Hoops chiefs are convinced the big defender will be a smash hit at Parkhead and will look to fund a permanent deal next summer, reports The Daily Record.

Duffy is under contract at Brighton until 2023 but was determined to come to Scotland despite interest from several clubs in England – including West Ham and West Brom – who were willing to meet the £10m asking price.

The 28-year-old will assess his options again at the end of the term but Celtic are hoping to be at the front of the queue.

Shane Duffy - An Examination Of Stats From Last Season Makes Encouraging Reading
It is an area of the squad that was in dire need of further recruitment, particularly if Lennon decides to revert to his 3-5-2 formation that was all-conquering domestically in the second half of last season.

It is an area of the squad that was in dire need of further recruitment, particularly if Lennon decides to revert to his 3-5-2 formation that was all-conquering domestically in the second half of last season.

With Jozo Simunovic leaving earlier in the summer and Hatem Abd Elhamed utilised almost exclusively as a wing-back – the Israeli played just 55 minutes of league football at centre-half – the Glasgow club have just three tried-and-tested central defenders on the books: Kristoffer Ajer, Christopher Jullien and Nir Bitton.

Celtic’s pursuit of Duffy has been well-publicised and Lennon will surely be delighted to finally get the deal over the line after weeks of haggling and negotiation. But ahead of his arrival, the question on supporters’ lips is: just what will Duffy bring to the team?
