AIK Ultras - Swedish Fans Land Blows On Security
Stewards waded into a stand full of AIK fans where 'punches were thrown' during this evening's Europa League clash with Celtic.

Stewards waded into a stand full of AIK fans where 'punches were thrown' during this evening's Europa League clash with Celtic.

Tensions ran high off the field as Swedish supporters appeared to land blows as stewards attempted to separate them.

Security stormed the away stand and it is understood a number of supporters were huckled out the ground.

It is not yet known if there have been any arrests made.

One eyewitness told how AIK fans did indeed throw fists and there may have been Celtic supporters involved in the altercations.

Other punters who were inside Parkhead at the time claimed to see AIK fans fighting with police officers.

And they appeared to try and force their way through the barrier towards the home fans during more fiery scenes.

BBC pundits were urged to remain inside Celtic Park after full-time as AIK ultras congregated outside Parkhead following their 2-0 loss to the Hoops earlier this evening.

Swedish fans remained outside the stadium for a lengthy period of time before they were met by cops and stewards.

Beeb presenter Richard Gordon, who led coverage of the game inside the ground, explained to listeners and colleagues after the whistle that there was trouble brewing.

His fellow pundit Allan Preston reportedly warned his co-workers of the issues outside and told them to stay where they were.

"I'm getting warnings from Allan Preston who's outside telling us not to leave the stadium," said Gordon.

To which sports journalist Tom English replied: "Oh, why's that?"

Gordon explained: "Because there are ultras outside and massive police numbers."

The mass of fans would have come as no surprise as there were also incidents inside the stadium during the game.

We told earlier how punches were thrown by AIK fans who attempted to barge their way into the home support.

Eyewitnesses claimed to have seen supporters "boxing" stewards and officers as the fiery scenes got uglier.
